Between 23 and 25 January 2025, the conference Bologna, Flanders and Spain in the Modern Age will be held at various locations in the city of Bologna: the Reale Collegio di Spagna Casa Cervantes (via Collegio di Spagna 23/a), the University of Bologna, Department of History, Culture and Civilisation (Aula Prodi, piazza San Giovanni in Monte 2) and the State Archives of Bologna (Vicolo Spiritio Santo 2).

The conference brings together historians, art historians, and book historians to take stock of Bologna’s role in the modern age in the network of cultural and artistic relations it weaved with Flanders and Spain, in particular through the University, the Real Colegio de España, and religious and political institutions.
